Who Can Race
The Spartan Pinewood Derby is open to all registered youth members of Scouting America (Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venture Scouts BSA, and Sea Scouts BSA). There will be three official scout class races: The Cub Scout Race, the Scouts BSA Race, and the Turtle Race.
Scouts competing in these races are welcome to race a newly made car or an old one. The only requirement is that the car must adhere to the official rules. Trophies will be awarded to the winners.
Official Rules

Maximum Width: 2 ¾ in.
Width Between Wheels: 1 ¾ in.
Maximum Length: 7 in.
Maximum Weight: 5.00 oz
Scale use at check-in will be the official determination of weight

Wheels:
Must be 4 BSA issued wheels with the text still visible
3 wheels must be in contact with the track at all times
No objects placed between the wheel hub and the body, i.e. wheel bearings, washers, bushings, etc. are prohibited

The winner of each round is the car that crosses the finish line first. The exception to this is the winner of the Turtle Race. The winner of the Turtle Race will be the car that finishes last. The overall winners of each of the three races will be determined using the double elimination method.
